Teachers have the power to create inclusive environments by fostering age appropriate dialogue celebrating our differences within a shared history of our nation’s achievements and a shameful past.  By fighting erasure, we can ensure that our students will be encouraged to pursue lifelong learning, curiosity, and a sense of self-worth.

Jessica Anne Bratt always brings a high level of passion and enthusiasm to her job as Youth Services Manager at the Grand Rapids Public Library. During her first years as a librarian, she began the DigiBridge partnership between Grand Rapids Public Schools and the Library, which resulted in her being named a Library Journal Mover and Shaker. Currently, she is on the Board of Directors for the Michigan Library Association and served on 2018-2019 ALA’s Coretta Scott King Book Award Jury Committee. She writes book reviews for Booklist and has written reviews for School Library Journal. Finally, she has presented at workshops and conferences nationwide on multiple topics. Her newest adventure: motherhood.
